For the aamora series “Where I Live”
Pandemic
There was loneliness
anxiety
in all of this calamity
Fear and distance
led the way
as closeness went astray
Faces masked
would pass each other
on the way
to solitude
or family refuge
A war against
an enemy
we could not see
we could not flee
until a scientist
named Chise* – and friends
helped clear the air
for pathogens
Science at the speed
of tweet
a way out of despair
would lead
With sheer delight we venture
out of the night
and reunite
in happy celebration
and joyful
anticipation
relieved by life
returned
Before we carry
on
and march towards the
sun
a learning though
is wise to heed:
that family and friends
and love
is all we truly need
Let darkness sow this seed
*) Chise (https://twitter.com/sailorrooscout) is an anonymous researcher who worked on the Moderna coronavirus vaccine and who made an enormous effort in explaining the benefits of the vaccine to the public and in fighting misinformation in the corona period.
Peter is an aamora contributor and here are some of his earlier posts – and here
Very interesting contrast between the two periods. You really give the idea of the isolation during lockdown.
